Downtown Tulsa Unlimited Announces Web site Redesign

Downtown Tulsa Unlimited is pleased to announce the launch of the completely redesigned Web site, www.tulsadowntown.org, designed by Straxis Technology, LLC.  The site was designed to be THE place to go to find out what’s going on in downtown Tulsa.  The Web site features new functions which make finding relevant information quick and easy, including a search feature and roll over menus.

We’ve added information about working, living and playing Downtown.  For example, there is a list of major office buildings with the leasing contact information for businesses looking to relocate Downtown as well as details about each of the unique entertainment districts.

We hope you enjoy using the new site and we welcome your feedback.  Please send any comments or questions to info@tulsadowntown.org.

2008 Downtown Tulsa Ornament Celebrates the New BOK Center

Downtown Tulsa Unlimited’s 12th edition of collectible Downtown ornaments features Downtown’s newest and most exciting addition, the BOK Center, as the foreground to the historically rich Tulsa skyline.

Made exclusively for Downtown Tulsa Unlimited by The Charleston Mint, these limited edition ornaments are a beautiful collector’s item.  Each ornament comes numbered with a certificate of authenticity.  Ornaments are brass with a 24 karat gold overlay.  The BOK Center is featured in silver hand baked enamel to spotlight its position in Downtown.

Not only is the 2008 ornament a great collectible in our series, it is also a great way to commemorate the opening of the BOK Center.  It makes a great holiday gift for friends and family as well as Downtown employees and clients.

The 2008 ornaments, as well as previous editions, are available at Downtown Tulsa Unlimited at 321 South Boston Avenue, Suite 101 and at Tulsa Treasures at 411 East 11th Street.  Ornaments are only $17, sales tax included.  Stands are available for $4.  Discounts are available for large purchases.  Proceeds from the sale of the ornaments benefit downtown promotions in an effort to make downtown Tulsa a great place to live, work, and play.

PSO Christmas Parade of Lights Seeks Participants

It’s almost time for Christmas!  Well, not exactly, but if your business or organization wishes to participate in the 2008 PSO Christmas Parade of Lights, it is time to submit a parade participant application.

Organizers of the 2008 PSO Christmas Parade of Lights wish to invite your business or organization to submit a parade participant application for the 2008 parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 13th at 6:00 p.m.  Parade applications are available for floats, marching bands, and specialty units.  Opportunities also exist for a variety of sponsorships, some of which include floats and giant helium balloons.  Participation in the parade is a great way to show your community spirit and is an excellent promotion for your organization.

Participating floats will be eligible to win several awards.  Float judging takes place on the Friday evening before the parade.  Trophies are presented immediately before the parade begins and are announced as the floats travel through the television viewing area.

There is also once again the opportunity for participating high school bands to win a cash award.  Last year, for the first time, the Parade held a Marching Band Competition for High School Bands.   The award for the Best Small Division Band went to Tulsa’s Memorial High School Band, and Best Large Division Band was awarded to the Bixby High School Band.

Parade applications and sponsorship agreements must be turned in by Friday, October 10th.  For applications, sponsorship opportunities or more information, please click here or call Downtown Tulsa Unlimited at 918.583.2617.

City on Graffiti Control as part of Downtown Revitalization

A city which highlights its grand iconic structures like the Philtower, Boston Avenue Methodist Church and now the Pelli designed BOK Center, means nothing if the structures become the principal canvas for graffiti and street tags.

In preparation for the BOK Center opening, the city has initiated a clean-up of all accessible graffiti. Six graffiti clean-up crews are currently focusing on areas visible from the inner dispersal loop (IDL). Officials are asking for community involvement and support by reporting any graffiti/ tagging to street maintenance at 527-0233.

Continuing the vigilance and rapid clean-up of the graffiti is an effort to show violators that property destruction will not be tolerated. Preventative efforts and enforcement by the City will also be put in place to restore the integrity of our infrastructure and preserve the culture of Tulsa.
